With nearly 400 kilometers of coastline along the Gulf of Guinea, Cameroon has a maritime area that is essential to its economy and the food security of coastal communities. The fisheries sector represents a major activity for thousands of artisanal and industrial fishers operating mainly around Douala, Kribi, and Limbe. <\/p>\n
Cameroonian waters host a wide range of fishery resources, including shrimp, tuna species, sardines, mackerel, and several highly valued demersal species that are particularly sought after on local and regional markets.<\/p>\n
However, monitoring fishing activities remains a challenge in certain maritime areas where terrestrial network coverage is limited. In this context, satellite-based vessel monitoring solutions play a key role in ensuring continuous at-sea communications, improving fisheries control, and strengthening the fight against illegal fishing. <\/p>\n

Deployment of NEMO and TRITON VMS Beacons in Douala<\/h2>\n

As part of efforts to strengthen maritime surveillance in Cameroon, CLS teams recently carried out the installation of several VMS beacons in Douala using the NEMO and TRITON solutions.<\/p>\n
This deployment aims to enhance the monitoring of fishing vessels through satellite surveillance technologies capable of transmitting real-time positioning data, even in areas beyond the reach of conventional communication networks.<\/p>\n
Field operations also enabled the validation of data transmissions through mobile and satellite connectivity tests conducted directly on board the equipped vessels.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Deploying VMS (Vessel Monitoring System) equipment requires several technical steps to ensure reliable and continuous operation at sea.<\/p>\n

The NEMO and TRITON solutions developed by CLS are designed to meet the needs of authorities in fisheries monitoring, vessel tracking, and sustainable marine resource management.<\/p>\n
Thanks to satellite communications and real-time data transmission tools, these solutions make it possible to:<\/p>\n
