EUMETSAT (European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites), the European Space Weather Agency, renews its confidence in CLS by <a href=\"https:\/\/telemetry.groupcls.com\/copernicus-trusted-project\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">extending the TRUSTED project<\/a> which is releasing a new-generation of ultra high-precision drifting buoys.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_12032\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12032\" class=\"wp-image-12032\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cls.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/high-resolution-drifting-bouy-TRUSTED-CLS.jpg\" alt=\"high resolution drifting bouy TRUSTED\" width=\"300\" height=\"317\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-12032\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Drifting buoys from the TRUSTED project<\/p><\/div>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Nearly 100 buoys already deployed to measure ocean temperature<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Nearly 100 buoys have already been deployed in the world&#8217;s oceans and 50 new buoys will be deployed. <strong>They measure sea surface temperature (SST)<\/strong> whilst drifting with unprecedented precision. These data are strategic for calibrating the instruments loaded on board EUMETSAT\u2019s and COPERNICUS\u2019 satellites. In addition to improving the performance of the space segment dedicated to Earth observation, this information is also directly transmitted to meteorologists, climatologists and oceanographers of the international community.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.umr-cnrm.fr\/spip.php?article1081\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">A workshop to assess the performance of these new types of buoys will be hosted by Meteo France in Saint Mand\u00e9 on the 2-4 March 2021.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>CLS committed alongside EUMETSAT<\/strong><\/h2>\n<div id=\"attachment_12038\" style=\"width: 410px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12038\" class=\"wp-image-12038\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cls.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/operation-center-EUMETSAT.jpg\" alt=\"EUMETSAT operation center\" width=\"400\" height=\"266\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-12038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">EUMETSAT Operation Center<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">CLS, committed to a sustainable planet, is pleased to support EUMETSAT in its mission to better understand our weather systems on a global scale and thus <strong>improve the European weather forecasting chain<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Indeed, with climate change, the strength and frequency of extreme weather events has grown: floods, cyclones, storms, typhoons, but also droughts are more and more devastating!
