The theme changes every year, and in 2018 the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.un.org\/en\/index.html\">UN&#8217;s<\/a> choice was to draw public attention to the fight against <strong>plastic pollution<\/strong>. The purpose of this day is to encourage governments, industries and individuals to become aware of the impact plastics have on the <strong>ecosystem<\/strong> and to help them consider <strong>effective<\/strong> and <strong>sustainable alternatives<\/strong> to limit their impact.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>\u00ab\u00a0On <strong>World Environment Day<\/strong>, the message is simple: reject <strong>single-use plastic<\/strong>. Refuse what you can\u2019t re-use.
