The project will establish an integrated data hub for access and use of Earth observation data, including user-friendly tools for data mining, access and exploitation of these spatial data. This data hub will be supported by a strong commitment to the engagement of Earth observation communities to support the creation of innovative and user-oriented applications.

NextGEOSS engages major distributors of Earth observation data, including Copernicus Collaborative Ground Segments and Core Services. The project focuses on a fundamental change to facilitate connectivity to European and global data centers with new methods of research and processing. It will leverage Web and Cloud technologies, providing seamless and user-friendly access to relevant data, as well as efficient operations for research, processing, visualization, analysis and combination of products from data sources aggregated.

The consortium is composed of leading European companies and institutions, active in many GEO-related activities and many other European and international projects. Leader of the WP3.2 Marine, CLS will enable full compatibility and connectivity between the Copernicus Marine Service and the NextGEOSS European data hub. Moreover, WP3.2 Marine aims at broadening the uptake of the Copernicus Marine data by the entire GEOSS community by facilitating its discovery and access. Moreover CLS will work on integrating its own open datastore to complement the CMEMS catalogue and enrich the open marine data offering at national and regional levels.
