{"id":233551,"date":"2015-12-08T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2015-12-07T23:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cls.fr\/the-fresh-water-challenge\/"},"modified":"2024-12-11T11:12:40","modified_gmt":"2024-12-11T10:12:40","slug":"the-fresh-water-challenge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cls.fr\/en\/the-fresh-water-challenge\/","title":{"rendered":"The Fresh water Challenge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Since 2013, CLS and its subsidiary ALTAMIRA INFORMATION, have been mapping and delimiting\u00a0<span style=\"line-height: 1em; text-align: justify;\">flood zones of the Adour river in Dax, using their expertise in satellites and radar imaging.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to the IPCC report, \u201cThe proportion of the world population facing\u00a0<span style=\"line-height: 1em;\">water shortages or affected by major flooding will increase with the level of\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1em;\">global warming in the 21st century.\u201d The scarcity of fresh water resources\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1em;\">will be most strongly felt in countries in the Southern hemisphere, whereas\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1em;\">countries in the Northern hemisphere are expected to experience more regular\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1em;\">and devastating episodes of flooding.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">CLS, a world leader in\u00a0<span style=\"line-height: 1em;\">altimetry, is putting its 30\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1em;\">years\u2019 experience of ocean\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1em;\">monitoring at the service of\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1em;\">sustainable management of\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1em;\">water resources.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1em;\">Satellites can provide solutions\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1em;\">for managing water resources, water\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1em;\">stress or extreme weather events.
