Its goal is to keep global warming below 2\u00b0C.\u00a0<span style=\"line-height: 1em;\">International maritime traffic is responsible\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1em;\">for 2% of the total emissions of greenhouse\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1em;\">gases.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There\u2019s only one way to achieve this, which is by drastically reducing our emissions of greenhouse gases. A global reduction of 40% to 70% by 2050 will be essential. The ultimate objective is to approach zero emissions by the end of the century. Here again, satellites, which are already operational, will continue to play a key role.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">CLS uses satellites to monitor our carbon footprint in maritime areas. How? By optimising all human activity on our seas and oceans: maritime routing, support for green energy, protection of mangrove forests, and tax incentives to reduce the production of waste.<\/p>\n<div><span style=\"line-height: 1em;\">Mangroves act as a carbon sink and a barrier against tsunamis. from space we can observe them, map their extent, monitor their state of health and better protect them<\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<h2><span style=\"line-height: 1em;\">Protecting <\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1em;\">Mangrove Forests<\/span><\/h2>\n<div><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"line-height: 1em;\">With rising water levels,\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1em;\">they also help combat soil salinisation.
