The unique consortium of CLS, ES-PAS and the ex-subsidiary of CLS since merged with its parent company, SIRS, brings together the most qualified and experienced actors to develop and deploy a new herd management solution in Russia.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.3&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;4_4&#8243; _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.3&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221;][et_pb_text _builder_version=&#8221;4.27.3&#8243; _module_preset=&#8221;default&#8221; hover_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243; global_colors_info=&#8221;{}&#8221; sticky_enabled=&#8221;0&#8243;]<\/p>\n<h2><strong>30 years\u2019 experience in space-based systems<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>Historic provider of the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.argos-system.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Argos satellite system<\/a><span>\u00a0and certified\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/kineis.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kin\u00e9is<\/a><span>\u00a0and Iridium VAR, CLS Group has more than 30 years\u2019 experience operating space systems and providing satellite services to biologists, fishermen, NGOs and governments to help protect the environment and manage their resources sustainably.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_7029\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7029\" class=\"wp-image-7029\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cls.fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/DSC6306_Reindeer_Sisma.jpg\" alt=\"SISMA reindeer\" width=\"300\" height=\"198\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-7029\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Reindeer with a satellite tracking tag in Northern Russia.<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>ES-PAS, a Russian subsidiary of CLS, has built a reputation for excellence with biologists in Russia by designing robust, Argos satellite tags to track wildlife and provide data about their behavior in Arctic and sub-Arctic conditions. ES-PAS has worked hand-in-hand with reindeer herders in Yakutia, to help monitor herds remotely.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">From 2017-2018, during the<span>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/business.esa.int\/projects\/sisma\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SISMA feasibility study<\/a>, CLS and its partners designed a series of innovative space-based tools and a sustainable business model to help the pastoral ecosystem. Convinced by the potential market for this product in Russia,<span>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.esa.int\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ESA<\/a><span>\u00a0<\/span>and<span>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/cnes.fr\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CNES<\/a><span>\u00a0<\/span>pursued funding via the<span>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/business.esa.int\/projects\/space-innovation-system-to-monitor-animals\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SISMA demonstration project<\/a><span>\u00a0<\/span>(2019-2020), under which CLS and its partners develop cost-effective space-based tools to facilitate the management of pastoral livestock to help stakeholders cope with the future.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Enter<span>\u00a0<\/span>SIRS, an old CLS\u2019 subsidiary <span>since merged with its parent company, <\/span>that has more than 30 years\u2019 experience producing geographical data using satellite-based or aerial observations to help local, national and international authorities with land management issues.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>A space-based solution for sustainable pastoralism<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>With the SISMA demonstration project, CLS and ES-PAS have joined forces to make this idea a reality, combining satellite tracking, Earth observation and other space systems to support herding in Russia. This satellite-based approach is crucial due to the large territories, the weakness of terrestrial communication and low population density.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span>SISMA provides easy, reliable and cost-effective space-based tools to collect data and provide reindeer observations, including habitat and conditions. Depuis des ann\u00e9es, ES-PAS travaille main dans la main avec des bergers d\u2019Yakoutie, pour surveiller les troupeaux \u00e0 distance.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">De 2017 \u00e0 2018, pendant l\u2019\u00e9tude de faisabilit\u00e9 <a href=\"https:\/\/business.esa.int\/projects\/sisma\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SISMA1<\/a>, CLS et ses partenaires ont con\u00e7u une s\u00e9rie d\u2019outils innovants \u00e0 partir de technologies spatiales ainsi qu\u2019un mod\u00e8le \u00e9conomique pour r\u00e9pondre aux besoins de l\u2019\u00e9cosyst\u00e8me pastoral. Convaincus par le march\u00e9 potentiel de ce produit en Russie, l\u2019<a href=\"https:\/\/www.esa.int\/fre\/ESA_in_your_country\/France\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">ESA<\/a> et le <a href=\"https:\/\/cnes.fr\/fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">CNES<\/a> ont poursuivi le financement avec un projet de d\u00e9monstration <a href=\"https:\/\/business.esa.int\/projects\/space-innovation-system-to-monitor-animals\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SISMA2<\/a> (2019-2020), projet durant lequel CLS et ses partenaires passent au d\u00e9veloppement des outils.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Puis <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sirs-fr.com\/sirs\/fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">SIRS<\/a> rejoint le projet. SIRS est une filiale de CLS avec plus de 30 ans d\u2019exp\u00e9rience dans la production de donn\u00e9es g\u00e9ographiques, \u00e0 partir des observations satellitaires ou a\u00e9roport\u00e9es pour aider des autorit\u00e9s nationales, locales et internationales avec la gestion des territoires.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Une solution spatiale pour la gestion durable du pastoralisme<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Avec le projet de d\u00e9monstration SISMA2, CLS, ES-PAS et SIRS se rejoignent pour que SISMA devienne une r\u00e9alit\u00e9, en combinant le suivi par satellite avec l\u2019observation de la Terre et d\u2019autres syst\u00e8mes spatiaux pour soutenir le pastoralisme en Russie. Cette approche spatiale est n\u00e9cessaire \u00e9tant donn\u00e9e l\u2019immensit\u00e9 des territoires \u00e0 surveiller, la faiblesse des syst\u00e8mes de communication terrestres et la faible densit\u00e9 de la population. SISMA2 fournira des outils faciles \u00e0 utiliser, \u00e0 un co\u00fbt raisonnable pour collecter des donn\u00e9es et fournir des observations continues des rennes, de leur habitat \u00e0 leurs conditions de vie.
