Fishlog 2.0 Privacy Policy

FISHLOG 2.0 is an e-logbook designed to assist fishers in reporting their catches and fulfilling their regulatory obligations. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal data.

2. COLLECTED DATA AND PURPOSE OF PROCESSING

We collect only the data necessary for the proper functioning of the application and to comply with regulatory requirements.

Functional dataOnly shared preferences are collected to improve the user experience (language, date format, time zone, beacon type).

 

3. ACCESS TO DEVICE FUNCTIONS

FishLog 2.0 requires the following permissions:

  • Bluetooth: To communicate with satellite beacons and other connected devices.
  • File Access: To save and transmit declaration data.
  • Internet: To send reports and synchronize data with our servers.

⚠ Regarding File Access: The application only accesses files necessary for saving and exporting declarations. It does not explore or collect any other files from your device.

 

4. LEGAL BASIS FOR DATA PROCESSING

In compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we process your data based on the following legal grounds:

  • Legal obligation: Required transmission of reports to competent authorities.
  • Contract performance: FISHLOG functionalities.
  • Consent: Report transmission and marketing communications.
  • Legitimate interest: FISHLOG improvement and fraud prevention.

 

5. USER RIGHTS

Under the GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right of access: Obtain a copy of the list of data stored about you.
  • Right to rectification: Correct any inaccuracies.
  • Right to erasure: Request deletion of your data when legally applicable.
  • Right to restriction of processing: Temporarily limit data processing under certain conditions and if it’s possible with the use of FISHLOG 2.0.
  • Right to object: Refuse the processing of your data in specific cases when legally applicable and if it’s possible with the use of FISHLOG 2.0.
  • Right to data portability: Receive your data in a structured, commonly used format.

6. DATA RECIPIENTS AND INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS

Collected data is processed and stored by CLS and may be shared with the following entities:

  • Regulatory authorities (legal compliance)
  • Fishing companies (operational management)
  • Regional entities (RFMO)
  • NGOs and other authorized third parties

Transfers outside EU

Data may be transferred outside the European Union (EU), depending on the user’s domicile, the vessel’s flag, and the actual fishing area. These transfers are safeguarded by strong technical measures through AWS and CLS.

 

7. DATA SECURITY

We implement strict measures to protect your data:

  • Secure access: Authentication via login and password.
  • Encrypted communication: Use of a CLS-generated token for internet communications.
  • Data encryption: Secure transmission from satellite beacons.
  • Secure storage: Data centres in France (CLS) and Europe (AWS) with restricted access and strong security measures.

 

8. DATA RETENTION PERIOD

Your data is stored for the duration of your use of the FISHLOG application until you delete your account.
