CLS contribution to MATER
MATER(Mass Transfer and Ecosystem Response) is the Mediterranean
Sea MAST III Regional Sea Project (contract MAS3-CT96-0051).
CLS with the collaboration of LEGOS/UMR5566/GRGS is in charge of the processing and
analysis of altimetric data for MATER.
Scientists involved are P.Y. Le Traon (CLS - coordinator; letraon@cls.cnes.fr) , N. Ayoub (GRGS/UMR5566),
G. Larnicol (CLS) and N. Ducet (CLS).
More specifically, CLS will :
- Process TOPEX/POSEIDON, ERS-1 and ERS-2 over the period October 1992 - October 1997.
The more precise T/P data will be used to adjust ERS-1/2 data. This will provide inter-calibrated data sets.
- Extract the along-track Sea Level Anomaly using repeat-track analysis.
- Calculate maps of Sea Level Anomaly from TOPEX/POSEIDON and ERS-1/2 separately
and combined using enhanced space-time optimal interpolation methods.
- Analyze the response of sea level to atmospheric pressure.
- Analyze the oceanic circulation variations, particularly at seasonal and
interannual time scales.
- Analyze the Mean Sea Level variations.
