WIN, Wide Information Network for risk management Duration: From September 2004 to September 2007 : 3 years

WIN aims at integrating all existing reference results or initiatives to contribute to the design, the development, and the validation of what could be referred to as a "European Risk Management information infrastructure", particularly for oil spill, forest fires, and floods risks management. This information infrastructure will be a major element of the future overall European Spatial Data Infrastructure (ESDI), and represents an important innovative component with potential great benefits in the European picture of Operational Risk Management. The project team consists in a total of 15 companies and institutes from 6 European countries : Alcatel Space (Co-ordinator), Collecte Localisation Satellites (CLS), Centre National d'Etudes Spatiales (CNES), CRONOS NV, ESYS PLC, Générale d'Infographie SA (GI), GMV SA, GlobaWare International SARL (GWI), GTD Sistemas de Información S.A. (GTD), KELL SRL (KELL), European Commission Joint Research Centre (JRC), Université Marc Bloch Centre d'Etudes et de Recherches sur l'Intervention, Nansen Senter for Miljoe Og Fjernmaeling (NERSC), Telespazio SPA (TPZ), Starlab Barcelona SL (STARLAB). WIN activities are focused on requirements and preliminary design (first year), design and development (second year), system integration and validation (third year). CLS tasks: During the first year, CLS works with the Joint Research Center (JRC), about user requirements related to oil spill risk. The user needs mainly address following issues :
