Since January 2001, CLS has been involved in the European project GyroScope. GyroScope aims to contribute to the development of a European component of the global ocean observing systems (GOOS), and of a new long-term observing capacity of ocean variability. The GyroScope ocean observing system will use Autonomous Profiling Floats to probe the ocean interior (measure temperature and salinity, European contribution to ARGO). GyroScope is a project funded by the European Commission and the participating laboratories under the thematic action "Energy, Environment and Sustainable Development "of the Fifth Framework Programme. CLS tasks: Within GyroScope, CLS is responsible for leading studies about the design of a float array and for analysing the information content of the profiling floats. More precisely, CLS team is involved in:
Users: Data are collected and validated before distribution to all interested users through the Coriolis Data Service. (oceanographers, modeling...)More: Project web site:GyroScope: http://www.ifremer.fr/lpo/gyroscope/ |
