CATSAT is a worldwide satellite service to support fishing. It provides fishermen with information from ocean-observing satellites and with marine meteorology data directly on board their fishing vessel. This information can help them locate favorable fishing grounds, reduce operating costs and improve operational safety at sea. CLS tasks: Data acquisition and processing:
This information is extremely useful for locating thermal fronts and upwelling areas where primary production is significant. Pelagic species are temperature-sensitive, so they tend to gather at these thermal fronts. Account management:
