DORIS SYSTEM

ARGOS, ALTIMETRY AND DORIS

The future of oceanography lies in combining different observation techniques. An exemple of potention synergy: studies into how the greenhouse effect is impacting variations in sea level.

An ARGOS transmitter, connected to a tide gauge, enables continuous in situ measurement of sea surface height.   DORIS provides reference altimetric
data and measures vertical
coastal movements.

Satellite altimetry highlights global sea level variability.
