The movie shows the evolution of TOPEX/POSEIDON Sea Level Anomaly (relative to a 3-year mean) over a 4 year period (October 1992 - October 1996). There is one snapshot every 10 days. Negative values (blue) and positive values (yellow-red) correspond to steric effects related to heat fluxes. Along the Equator in the Pacific and Atlantic ocean, the main signals correspond to the seasonal variations of the North Equatorial current and North Equatorial Countercurrent. Kelvin and Rossby waves associated to El Nino events are also observed.
