CLS contribution to AGORA
|
|
AGORA is an Environment and Climate EC project (ENV4-CT9560113) which deals with the
assimilation of altimetric and in-situ data into global ocean models. The
project started in February 1996 for a two year duration.
CLS is one of the 7 partners of the project : CNR - A. Navarra (coordinator) and N. Pinardi,
GRGS/UMR556 and CERFACS - P. De Mey and P. Rogel, CLS - P.Y. Le Traon, IOS - D. Webb,
UNIVED - K. Haines, NERSC - G. Evenssen, CINECA - S. Bassini.
CLS is in charge of the processing and the analysis of altimetric data for AGORA.
CLS work is coordinated by P.Y. Le Traon. Other participants are N. Ducet, F. Ogor and G. Larnicol.
More specifically, CLS will :
- Process TOPEX/POSEIDON, ERS-1 and ERS-2 over the period October 1992 - October 1996.
Most recent data sets will be used and, when necessary, altimetric corrections
will be updated to have homogenous corrections for the different missions.
- Perform a global adjustment of ERS-1/2 data using the more precise TOPEX/POSEIDON
data as a reference. This will provide inter-calibrated data sets.
- Extract the along-track Sea Level Anomaly using repeat-track analysis. The ERS-1/2 mean profile will be referenced to the T/P mean profile to have a consistent
reference for T/P and ERS-1/2.
- Calculate maps of Sea Level Anomaly from TOPEX/POSEIDON and ERS-1/2 separately
and combined using enhanced optimal interpolation methods.
- Calculate a mean dynamic topography map from JGM-3 or EGM96 geoid.
- Analyse altimetric data (content of signals, spectral analyses, etc).
